Gratitude. 🙂

I was lucky enough to be born in the USA. Not that the USA is better than any other country, it is not, but we do have some freedoms and options that people in other nations do not...which is a tragedy.  We only have one life on this planet, and it's a short one. I wish everyone would have the ability to chase their hopes, their desires, dreams, to laugh, dance, be happy, love and be successful and prosperous in their time on earth.

And I was born with decent health and genetics, which is pure luck. It just happened, nothing I did to earn it, nothing I did to deserve it, again, it was just simply luck.

And I was lucky enough to be born in this era. I don't have to hunt for food, wash clothes in a creek, make fire by rubbing sticks together, sleep in the dirt, walk or ride a horse, I have electricity, indoor plumbing, heat and A/C, we have computers, phones, cars, planes and advances in medical technology and medications that improve and extend our lives.

Plus, I live in a democracy. This is "my" country, it is "our" country. We own it. The mountains, beaches, rivers, streams, the cities, roads, the land, the laws. Politicians work for us not the other way around. We pay them. We elect them, we can un-elect them, we can impeach them, we can fire them. "We The People" are self governed, we are not "owned".

A lot of people on social media are quite negative, and I do take their points. Things are a bit challenging right now, to say the least. However, I would point out that in the USA and the West, regardless of sex, gender, race, religion and those factors, we can vote, drive, get educated, own a business or a home, run for political office, have sex with who we want, marry, adopt, breed, travel, wear what we want, dress how we want, read what we want, listen to whatever music we prefer, which is something that other people in numerous parts of the world, billions of people, do not have those options. So while things are not perfect, they never have been and never will be, I make the effort to be grateful and appreciative for the good fortune I have been blessed with, and strive to help others achieve that globally.
Anyway, as usual, there is no real point to my rambling, blathering, bloviating, postulating, pontificating, prevaricating, babbling other than the above and to point out...I'm not wearing pants.   😁

  1. Dear miss Chaland,

Some scholar said that the US are now in their 'adolescence years'. For 250 years, the system has worked and it will continue to work, regardless of the orange, wet fart that's running a circus right now.
After WWII, the leading power in the free world had shifted from Europe to the US and it has remained there since.

America has made a foolish decision, but eventually the Yanks will do the right thing.
To put in contrast: in 1945 German soldiers fought to their death to defend their homeland from American attacks. In 1955 German soldiers pledged to the defend the US with their lives, as a new member of NATO.

My American friends, stay strong. You are not alone in this fight for democracy. My words are not empty, they are filled monthly contributions to US organisations that defend US democracy.

    Kind regards,

    Marco (from Lady Lindsay).

  2. Marco, I am optimistic, cautiously, but optimistic all the same, that democracy will not end. Thank you for the supportive message. :)

  3. I agree we are lucky... there are always some that are less well off ( and some that are better) but generally, living in the UK (or you in US) means things will never be catastrophic... and i certainly feel lucky knowing you ain't wearing pants! an awesome ass! ;-p Regards TT

  4. The times we live in may be somewhat shit (to put it mildly). Butt, Vanessa still has a fine one :)

Liking the optimism, feels in short supply most days

  5. The world and life is good for most of us, and we need to help those for which it is not. :)
