When they put together these cute little biased "studies" notice they only look at a few specific jobs within certain industries, and then imply the stats are applicable to all occupations.
What do they leave out?
Runway models.
Instagram "Models".
Strippers.
Hooters waitresses.
ProDoms.
Hookers.
Gold Diggers.
Stepford Wives.
Mistresses.
Concubines.
"Kept" women.
The list goes on and on and what do they all have in common?
They make vastly more money...than men do.
So, when people claim that women "earn 82 cents for every dollar earned by men"...it's a 100% pure and total lie.

What baffles me about this whole controversy is...how any sane rational person can think the promotion of rights for trans people, means taking rights away from biological women as being...just. It's women that are being minimized by this insanity. Women. Women are women. Transwomen are transwomen. Men are men. Transmen are transmen. Not the same thing. All human beings deserve equal rights, but pretending that biology doesn't matter...it's nuts. I am mostly on the side of Rowling on this issue, as is science and facts. And I'm fed up with anyone that doesn't capitulate to this insane PC nonsense being branded as being "transphobic". Anyone that doesn't agree with the extremist elements of this agenda is called "transphobic".

A bunch of hardcore drama queen radical liberals at a liberal law school protested a conservative speaker who was invited to speak. They disrupted the event, made asses of themselves, were filmed, now want their names and photos removed from records and social media. Oh Vanessa you know i have to disagree with your assertion at the start, there is plenty to see and read in your post that is of interest. i don't agree with you on everything, there is, for example a gender pay gap across pretty much all work undertaken by men and women (i agree there are instances where thus isn't the case, porn for example) but much else i do wholeheartedly agree with. Which is why i love your blog so much, you make good points and arguments and, whilst i don't agree with everythign you say the word would be a very boring place indeed if i or other readers did.

The pay disparity, at least here in the USA, is mostly nonsense. And it's easily proven. As for other parts of the world, they have their own situations, and I am not speaking here, to those circumstances. Equal pay for equal work I fully support. The operative words being "equal" as it applies to both the pay and the "work".

ReplyDeleteAny good barrister knows you have to look at *actual* evidence, not biased "studies" with an agenda. For example:
"OnlyFans states that it pays out more than $200 million a month to creators. In 2021, they reached a company valuation of $1 billion. Their revenue was around $900 million for 2021, a rise from $350 million in the previous year."
It's safe to assume that 95% or 99% of all that money goes to women. But that was left out of the Pew Study. So was all the other examples I posted earlier. So, everyone wants to say that sex work is work, and sex workers are working, but yet they want to leave that income out of the their little "study". We are talking about billions and billions of dollars in the USA alone, and trillions of dollars globally that was "conveniently" left out of their conclusions.
In the 90's (or whenever) SuperModel Cindy Crawford stated "We don't wake up for less than $10,000 a day." Male models were making maybe....$500.
Equal pay for equal work...needs to be applied "equally". Any sort of manual labor job where men have more physical strength, and can produce more, they should get paid more. Warehouses, agriculture, construction, ranching, farming, logging, on and on and on. Plus, many women take off months for pregnancy and birthing, which would obviously affect their annual income...which is not usually factored in.
Any entry level job in the USA has a minimum wage standard, set by law. So women are making the same as men. So what we're really talking about here, is a cherry picked select group of white collar occupations, a small segment, where women are indeed in many cases getting paid less, which is no good, but then they restate that as "all" or nearly "all" across the board, while leaving out innumerable examples of other sources of income and jobs...because they're not creating an unbiased report, but rather trying to make their results fit their politically driven preconceived point...which is not right.
Equality is good...and is what we all should strive for. That can not be accomplished when people are making up nonsensical studies (yes, I am talking about Pew Research) and then others are misquoting that from where a select "few" are not paid fairly, to suddenly some people state "all" women are not being paid fairly. That's not right, it's not good, it's not fair, it's not accurate and it undercuts the point of trying to achieve "equality". :)

Some are, some are not. Golfers are overpaid right? Or not. If someone is willing to pay someone else a certain amount...it's worth it to that person, so in that case...the compensation is worth whatever the "service" is...right? :)

Even adjusted there is still a gender pay gap and if you look at how that then breaks down into specific roles you will see it is not just white collar roles but also bartenders and waitresses (which apparently have the amongst the highest gaps) . And, so called "breastaurants" only hire women, so what comparison could be made from them to the...nonexistent male employees? None. Hot chicks serving food or drinks to men make far more than male servers do...period.
A quick Google search on the company link you provided says: "Where does PayScale com get its data? We collect and report all our own salary data. our compensation data comes from comprehensive salary surveys that span a wide range of industries and geographic locations. Information is voluntarily self-reported by employees. our data is clean and unbiased."
Notice..."self-reported"...meaning nothing is verified, so the entire websites "conclusions" are of no value, as it's just random people saying whatever the fuck they want, to a private for profit company, which has an agenda. I stick with facts, evidence, science, stats, from sources that are reputable...and both this and the Pew Research "study" fail in that regard.

Hi Vanessa - Okay, so where is your data from? i do agree with you in one respect though, equality is not on my agenda as, for a variety of reasons, i personally believe in female superiority/supremacy. The law does not currently allow for that but i hope that one day it might. My data? My assertion is there *is* no reportable data in many cases. That's what I've been saying. When billions of dollars exhange hands, which is not tracked nor reported, yet "studies" claim there is an across the board pay imbalance, but can't prove it, that would be my whole point. No one is tracking what strippers, ProDoms, escorts, hookers, cash tips, and so on total, and as these so called studies ignore multiple industries, jobs, occupations which don't fit into their agenda, then one has to question their conclusions. Stating that women are being "shorted" in compensation for some industries where we are not able to produce the same results as men based on physical differences is not about equality, but favortism or a hand out...which I am not for. Equal pay for equal work means...equal, regardless of industry or sex/gender. A woman mason laying half as many bricks per hour should *not* get the same pay as a male mason...that would not be fair to him, nor the employer. Women taking off months for maternity leave are not going to make the same amount of money annually as a male does, or as a woman who is *not* taking that time off would.

DeleteUsually you are spot on but not today. Women have gotten the short end of the stick since the beginning of time. Yes there are exceptions to the rule but on average women have been shit on and paid less for a long time. It is precisely why they refuse to pass the ERA. There was just a scandal about this recently in the news about women doing the same job and being paid less than their male counterparts. As late as the 70's, women couldn't get a credit card without their husbands signature and were required to quit working when they got married. We've come a long way but the playing field still favors men. As far as Transwomen not being women, that is just absurd. Trans people have always been women or men inside and they just want the outside to match the inside, they just changed the packaging. J K Rowling is an LGBTQ-a-phobe and makes me sick. I'm glad I have never read or seen any of her work and I don't plan to start now. Ironic how someone that writes fiction that appeals to the fringe of our society, doesn't recognize this. My wife had a hysterectomy so by your "logic" she is no longer a woman. I'll be sure and tell her that when she comes home from her 12 hour shift of delivering babies. The largest sexual organ in the human body is your brain. I have known people my entire life that when I first met them, I could tell that they were in the wrong body.
