Dating Sites and Social Media are the New Porn.

I've been contemplating something for some time now and from conversations with various single people have come to the following conclusion. I think a huge amount of dating site/social media hookup site users...are never getting laid.

There are random articles that indicate sites like Tinder etc, are seriously frustrating for single men. One of the reasons is many women are using them as "fan clubs" and a method of bolstering their egos, for validation that men find them attractive, but have no real desire to date anyone. They are more concerned with having likes, fans, feeling "popular" then actually meeting someone.

As there is a disproportionate amount of young, unburdened, single and attractive women on these sites, (because really, we can find a date anywhere) the ones that spend so much time there are "valued" and this strokes the ego due to a lack of competition. Flash some hair, pearly whites, tits and ass, and suddenly you're more popular then ever before in their lives.

Most likely, the highest prevent of true "hook ups" or actually finding a long term relationship, still comes from the usual methods and places for meeting people, meaning right outside your door. The gym, a bar, work, just normal everyday activities. So mostly the online stuff is just people flirting, being exhibitionists and voyeurs, getting a little nude porn fix, probably masturbating and then going back to their lives.

There is no real point here other than an observation and thinking about how, while technology is fabulous in so many ways, some things remain the same.
