Memorial Day.
Memorial Day falls on May 28th this year.
In my opinion, the best way to memorialize it is:
Don't let jackass politicians start any more wars where the sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, sisters, brothers, mothers or fathers of those already wounded or killed, be forced into the same path.
Politician's start wars, regular people don't. The vast majority of people that inhabit this planet are good solid people regardless of race, creed, sexual orientation, religion, nationality and/or any other factors. We all want basically the same thing. Peace, opportunity for ourselves, for our family and kids. People want to find the partner of their dreams. People want security, dignity, many want to serve or honor a higher power, they want to serve something and someone outside of self. All human beings are, or can be, noble, and live a life of dignified stature, with class, grace and positive contributions to society and humanity.
But none of them, or none of us, can live that life and achieve our true potential if we allow our "leaders" to drag us into the mud, bog us down with ridiculous petty nonsensical greed over a bit of land or some oil, or over the color of someone's flesh or the type of religious clothing they wear, and start wars based on that where 1000s if not 1,000,000s die and suffer endlessly.
People seem to forget that we are the government, and those we elect are our employees...not the other way around. We can hire them, and we can fire them. We should insist they hold themselves to a higher standard and act accordingly in a manner that makes us proud...not embarrassed and ashamed of America. I'd like to be optimistic about the future of the USA and the world at large. At times that can be challenging, especially of late. Our determination to ensure future generations, that they will even have a future..is really what fallen service men and fallen service women fought and died for. We owe it to them, their children and grandchildren, to hold ourselves accountable to demand our leaders live up to what we as Americans, and as human beings in/of the world are readily capable of...and deserve.
