By the way, this is not a pro/con comment on Brexit...just a comment on the stupidity of some of the people pushing it.
I mean...if there is a long line at Costco, or Walmart, a toll bridge, a traffic jam due to a car accident, does everyone jump out and start fucking in the bushes? Do people drop trou, start humping, jacking, slapping, sucking, fucking...whenever there is more than 8 cars at the drive-up window at any given local fast-food restaurant? No, seriously, I'm asking. I haven't left home in a few months...maybe they are doing it....and I'm the only one that doesn't know about it. :)

A person who is 80 years old has seen almost one third of US history, which puts into perspective how little 240 years actually is. (The USA has existed as we currently know it for roughly 240 years.) For me it just points out how long the human life is, 240 years is a long time. You think 1 year is a long time? 1,000 of those ago, England was just starting off as a country. 2,000 more before that, Jesus was born. About 50,000 of those before that, humans were just leaving Africa.
Now imagine TWENTY FORTY OF THOSE 50,000-YEAR PERIODS and humans were just starting to evolve. That's 2 million years ago. Now imagine 32 of those 2 million-year periods and that's how many more years you'd have to go back before you saw some dinosaurs. Now imagine 53 of those 65 million-year periods and that's how far back you'd have to go before life started to evolve on earth. We're at 3.5 billion years in the past. Go back 1 billion more revolutions around the sun and the earth is now just being formed. Also just to drive home how just how big a difference 1 billion is from 1 million: 1 million seconds is 11 days. 1 billion seconds is 32 years.
We live in the 21st century. Science can and does explain many wondrous things, we live in an age of information at our fingertips, we’re 7.5 BILLION people from all walks of life with the capacity to love, share and help each-other. And yet…we are not moving forwards very quickly.
One reason why?
Because there’s BILLIONS of people out there who actually believe:
4,000 years ago a man heard voices that told him to kill his own son.
Just as he was about to do it, the voice told him to stop and kill a ram instead.
The voice in his head told him to mutilate his own genitals and that of his sons and his slaves.
After getting his (sex) slave pregnant he eventually kicked her out along with their young son.
Thousands of years later a bush that was on fire spoke to another man.
The bush told him free Israelites from slavery in Egypt and lead them to around in the desert for a long time to eventually reach Canaan (which was actually just another part of Egypt at that time).
The voice in his head told them to invade a land which wasn't even theirs.
The voice in his head told him to command an entire army to kill all the men, women and boys but keep the little girls for themselves.
The voice told him it’s ok to rape women of other lands that pass by on the road.
The voice told him that slavery is ok, and that you should feel free to enslave people from other countries. You could even sell your daughter to pay off a debt.
The voice told this man/warmonger that it’s ok to treat women as property, that a woman should marry her rapist, that people should be stoned to death if they don't obey him, that you shouldn't eat pigs because it makes him sad and that picking up sticks on a Saturday is worthy of the death sentence.
And that’s what blows my mind. People actually believe this stuff. Not only do they believe it, but they’re willing to go out and blow each other up with nuclear weapons, automatic rifles, stone people, chop off hands, subject women to abuse and hold back progress for humankind. Blows my mind. Thank god I’m an atheist.
Lots of guys develop misogynistic attitudes because the women in their lives (when growing up) are genuinely toxic people. I am somewhat self-aware that this is at least true for me. "Most* of the women I grew up around and with fit neatly into these categories:
a) Karens. Mothers of friends etc. who are super nosy, go through their stuff, need to know everything about every friend, give away their stuff without asking, display fairly shit behavior, and so on. I often found them to be very unfair and unreasonable, and they usually got away with their bullshit.
b) Airheads. Girls with unrealistic ideas about how the world is or should be, super self-secure about this nonsense they believed, and generally awful to disagree with. Usually also the goody-two-shoes type who'd rat you out to teachers or other figures of authority as soon as something went wrong. Didn't make the best friends imo.
c) Narcissist. As there is an entire sub dedicated to these, I hope you know what I mean. In general, it seemed to me like women's entire personality was always based on social status and how others perceived them. This self-centered act got old really fast.
It really took me a while to come around interesting, intelligent women. I pretty much consistently had a girlfriend since I was like 14, so this wasn't an issue and I had some examples to the contrary, but looking back now the above is really how it was for me. Only in my later teens and at university I came to see that that's not all there is. (* Most means not all, but most.)
To the guy who came in with his wife Sunday night, 20 minutes before closing: You stuck your head in the front door around 20 minutes to 10, looking expectantly with your blonde wife in tow. I swallowed disappointment, yet again, while wearing a pained smile, and waved you into the bar area. You sat down and ordered straight away: top shelf bourbon on the rocks for you, Prosecco for the wife, and a volcano cake to share. You were both well-dressed and charming and funny. Your wife was hot and smelled good. You both savored every bite, made me laugh, tipped 30%, and breezed out the door with 2 minutes left on the clock. I love you.
If you put these 9 guys in a single 9-seater van, they have more combined wealth than the poorest 4 BILLION (!!) (out of 7.6 billion) people on Earth share altogether. This should be used more to give a better perspective of a billion, and how big one billion really is. There are over 2000 billionaires in the world and collectively they could literally feed everyone on the planet and have plenty left for themselves. If each of those 2000 billionaires put $1 billion in a pot, how much money would be in it? $2 trillion. Or 1/11 of the US national debt
Hypothetically, a millionaire could live on $100k per year for 10 years. A billionaire could live on $1M per year for a thousand years. I saw something awhile back about if you made $2000 an hour, 40 hours a week from the year the Declaration of Independence was born and you saved every single penny of it you still wouldn’t have $1 Billion dollars and it made my brain hurt.

I found the following amusing. A few times when I've mentioned New Mexico to people, they think its a desert. And once I used Santa Fe as an example of terrain (assuming they'd seen photos of the city and the mountains) they thought Santa Fe was in Mexico. :)
Interesting concept...but I'm not sure I support the idea. Sure, its great, in theory, to have an all girls place. Just to hang out with girlfriends, lounge, gossip, unwind and take it easy. But it's not really promoting inclusion right? Its not supporting equality nor egalitarianism. And if/when/should it be the opposite, meaning a "No Women Allowed" hotel, would feminists support the idea? Doubtful. Very doubtful. I suspect we'd have lawsuits, protests and riots in their parking lot.
Besides, no men often equals...boring.
