I've written before about the interesting parallels between religion and some BD/SM practices and ideologies. Guilt, penance. Confession, punishment. "Overlord" and subject. The Cross (for some, not my type of thing), whippings, beatings, obeisant servitude...and reward.
BDSM can mimic some aspects of religion. Or the other way around. Which came first? The chicken or the egg? Or which came first, the ritualized fetishistic aspect of religion versus the ritualized fetishistic aspects of BDSM? They both involve heavy doses of:
Answering to an Authority
Figure.
Worship.
Guilt.
Penance.
Punishment.
Sin.
Punishment (Again).
Confession.
Punishment. (Once again).
The Cross.
Unique and Distinct Attire.
Genuflection.
Bowing.
Whips.
Honor.
Scourge.
Nuns.
Robes.
Kneeling.
Yielding.
Cane.
Rulers.
Spankings.
Catharsis.
Beatings.
Denial.
Chastity.
Uniforms.
Punishment (Yes indeed....once again).
Some submissive males will spend hours, days, weeks being subjected to corporal
punishment, spanking, caning, CBT, blue balls slapped or kicked, sometimes in chastity, denied, toiling at household tasks, humiliated, objectified all just to please their wife or Mistress. And stated or unstated at the end of that period of denial and service, they only want to be allowed to use their hands, fingers, lips and tongues to caress and lick...body parts. Being allowed to kiss and lick our breasts, thighs, calves, with the hopes of worshiping their version of the "Holy Grail"...ass and pussy. And it they are lucky then...and only then...sometimes...they might be allowed to empty their balls of all that pent up sperm which has been screaming for release for such a long time, leaving them spent and exhausted. And then the process starts all over again. Sounds like a religion to me. :)

Not sure whether to laugh or cry. It must be something for a priest to engage in such activity on an altar, but I’m happy never to have tried so hard to repress desires (at least since growing up).

DeleteUm, as I remember, way back when, that's what nuns were for. No need to pay. Yardsticks,Paddles, Pointers for canes, and the strap if you really pissed them off. That was my Intro to BDSM. Bishop has every right to burn altar with dumb priest tied to it for wasting good money that could feed and house people in need.
ReplyDeleteI never had to live through the horrors of a religious school "education"...but have heard many stories. And I take your point about wasting money, though the Vatican could sell off some artwork and a few properties and help about a billion people, if they so desired.
