As most probably have heard, a recent "gender reveal" party in California ended up causing a massive fire as...the idiots used pyrotechnics as part of the celebration. Here's the thing...gender and sex are not the same thing. Gender is a social construct, sex is biologically determined at birth. Its a misnomer...they are not revealing the "gender" of the infant, but rather the sex of the infant. So, besides it being a costly event, and one which caused enormous property damage and could have caused loss of life...its grammatically and biologically incorrect, and therefore...its just stupid. :)
