I was working on a project with a counterpart engineer in Frankfurt and while we were waiting for the software to load we talked about health insurance and taxes and German cars. He said they all (the German engineers) drive B class Mercedes but my VW is also a very good car. He also said they pay 45 percent income tax but that covers health insurance. I did the math and figured I paid ~ 25 percent tax excluding all the nickel and dime hidden taxes like sales tax on electricity and then ~ 25 percent for health insurance and associated copays and deductibles. I think they get a better deal. They for sure have better cars.
ReplyDeleteSome nations, with similar tax structures, beyond medical care also get college paid for. Its drives me nuts here in the USA where people talk about "free" healthcare or "free" college. Its not free. You pay for it through taxes. I pay for it through taxes. We all pay for it. The same as how our taxes pay for the police, 12 years of public education, firemen, libraries, roads, parks, beaches, forest land and on and on. I'ts what we've always done, it's all a form of "Democratic Socialism" and I just wish Fox News liars and those that believe them would stop lying and stop with the "Socialism" fear mongering.
