What is "negative knowledge" (my version) you may ask?
Knowledge is knowing things. Negative knowledge is someone that is usually well "educated", that has some sort of college degree, even advanced degrees, but has no common sense, and is therefore so stupid that you can't interact with them. They are not of low IQ, as we protect, advocate and care for those people. Education is not the same as intelligence. You can teach (educate) a monkey to bang a tambourine, and you could teach Albert Einstein to bang a tambourine, but they do not have the same intelligence.
I'm talking about some blah/blah/blah bloviating assface that thinks they know everything, regurgitates "facts" that are not facts, spew talking points because they heard them on TV, repeat urban myths, are condescending, patronizing, often mansplainers, are credulous, question nothing, have no critical thinking skills, have no "mental initiative" can't think out of the box, and are generally perpetual neophytic sycophants...and arrogant on top of that.
Examples of Negative Knowledge Facts/Thinking/Experiences:
Health:
My husband needed a treadmill stress test. For about a year, we discussed with the doctors that he's not comfortable running much anymore due to foot problems. Most likely these problems are due to an accumulative effect of too many years landing on a hard floor from doing martial arts kicks, jumping out of trees as a young boy and things that happen when you get into your 30s, 40s or beyond. Anyway, asking them if he could do the test on a stationary bike...left them all stumped. He tried to explain that the treadmill is not the test, but simply a device or tool to accomplish the test. You can calibrate the test to any exercise or device wherein the cardio system is elevated. I mean, Michael Phelps, the Olympic swimmer has a fantastic cardio system right? But if he had two broken ankles, showed up for the treadmill test, he would "flunk". His test results would indicate, as he failed the test, that he has a heart condition. While explaining this to the doctors, they stood with mouths gaping open, trying to process this information...I wanted to toss caffeine pills into their gaping mouths to wake them the hell up.
Alcohol:
We are told that no one should drink more than 2 drinks a night, and a maximum of 7 to 12 drinks a week. Everyone says this. Everyone knows this, right? But when you ask the doctor what science is behind this claim....mouth gaping returns. There is no test that proves this. There is no science behind it. The same advice is told to a 5' tall, 115 pound man, and a 7' tall ,400 pound man. Doctors (most anyway) don't like it when you question their "advice"...because they can't answer your questions because (perhaps) they are embarrassed that they never questioned the advice they were given and are now giving out to others.
Trickle Down Economics aka Reaganomics.
Every single responsibly done study proves, proves, without a shadow of a doubt, that this failed under Reagan, Bush 43 and so now...some greedy bastards gave themselves a 2 trillion dollar tax cut, under Trump. As its been a year or so, and mostly no one gained other than billionaires, those that voted and supported theses self absorbed cretins in DC that pushed this through are acting surprised. How can this be? I mean all the evidence proved it was going to fail...and it has.
Religion:
Engage in contrarian polemical interlocution with a religious fundamentalist, or a theologian, ask them about the Gnostic texts, the Apocrypha, Hermeneutics, Kenosis, anything to do with archaeology, anthropology, science or history that disproves their "faith" and watch their synapses smolder.
Weed:
The legal and medical industry has been screaming for 50 years that smoking weed will fry the brains of everyone and/or kill them. Where are the corpses? Where is the evidence of this? Its nonexistent because...its a lie.
People are just repeating things that they were told and remember via rote memorization. Great. Someone was able to get a degree because they memorized enough information to be able to pass a test that says they are qualified to have a title and some alphabet soup after their names. They are now deemed "experts" by our society...even though a good part of what they are experts in is...a pile of dumbass garbage passed off as "knowledge". Its like...these people are so lacking in knowledge, as in facts, versus fiction and rhetoric and myths and lies and ...its not in the true positive zone of "knowledge, its that they seem to know so little, its in the minus or negative zone. Its...negative knowledge. Okay...rant over. :)
Great rant Vanessa. BTW, John Cleese is pretty dumb these days.

Cleese has always been a bit goofy and silly in some of his political positions. :)
