Today is Womens Equality Day.

Today is Womens Equality Day, a day celebrating the ratification of the 19th Amendment which give women the right to vote. The 19th Amendment was adopted in 1920, giving white women the right to vote. It wasn't until the Voting Rights Act of 1965 that women of color were guaranteed suffrage. Most history books are lacking the explanation that this amendment really only applied to affluent white women. It took nearly 200 years for all U.S. women to get the right to vote.

  1. Does that mean I get to rise up to be the equal of my darling wife because surely it would be wrong for her to step down to be equal to me? Just curious...
