Are not promoting what I view as true equality akin to an egalitarian society. Ideally, a world where everyone is a humanist at minimum, and should they desire a religious philosophy...more power to them for melding that together. But those that protest should offer a solution. Just taking off your tops and writing anti-religious sayings on your body, for the shock effect, while not having any cogent alternatives is a waste of time and just..stupid. When the suffragists marched and protested, they had a firm agenda. When the Civil Rights movement happened they had legitimate grievances and well thought out plans to codify a way forward that would protect them.
When Occupy Wall Street did their "thing" (of which I somewhat supported) they missed one crucial detail...they were at the wrong address. Protesting Wall Street was supposed to accomplish what? Make Bernie Madoff types feel guilty about their billion dollar pyramid schemes? Not likely as those people have no conscience nor souls to begin with. They should have Occupied Washington DC where laws are made and can be changed. That would have made sense.
The right to protest is a fabulous thing. The right to effect change, the hopes of a better tomorrow, the hopes of a world with peace and parity is something we should all strive for. Raging against the machine is all well and good, and something I've been doing my whole life, but ideas to remedy problems is of critical importance...otherwise its just a bunch of chicks flashing tits...not that there's any thing wrong with that. :)
