I would mostly agree with their conclusion. While not stating a firm opinion on the "nature-versus-nurture" question on the origin of fetish/kink interests, it does seem to me to be a lifelong interest. That can create problems for those that are with someone they hope to "convert". In the early months/years of dating or being together, the "vanilla" partner might partake in the acts out of curiosity, experimentation, a desire to please their partner...but that interest usually soon wanes.
